This story is of a girl named Simran Kaur. She was a Non-Resident Indian and permanent resident of United Kingdom. She was living with her parents and unfortunately she lost her mother in 1976. Her father Sh. Harpreet Singh remarried Amrita Kaur in the year 1985 and had a girl child, Poonam from this wedlock. Later Sh. Harpreet Singh died in 1992 leaving behind Simran Kaur and her step sister Poonam. Harpreet Singh was the owner of a huge estate measuring 70 kanals in Punjab, India. Simran Kaur was only 15 years old when her father died. She was taken care by her parental uncle named Gurpreet Singh at that time. During her childhood, her parental uncle used to tell her that Sh. Harpreet Singh has accumulated enough assets for his family and they are taking care of her property. Simran Kaur always believed them and considered her uncle as her father since her childhood. When she grew up she started asking for the information about the estate of her father but her uncle dilly-dallied the matter on some pretext or the other. No information was given to her regarding the status of the property. Somehow she obtained documents of the property and it came as a shock to her that a will was executed by her father in 1984 and to her dismay the beneficiary was her cousin named Devendera Singh(son of Sh. Gurpreet Singh). According to the contents of the will, the entire immovable assets of her father were bequeathed to her cousin. As per her the will was forged because it did not bear the signatures of her father and was registered after 1992 that is after the death of her father Sh. Harpreet Singh. After gaining the knowledge, she requested Devendera Singh to admit her title over the property and requested him to get the mutations cancelled and to hand over the possession to her but he refused to do so. Simran Kaur filed a suit against Devendera Singh for fabricating and forgery of the documents and for the declaration that Simran Kaur and her step sister Poonam are the real owners of the property that is the class I heirs of the deceased. When Devendera Singh got to know about the suit, he started threatening and abusing Simran Kaur that he will sell her property to somebody else and will never ever get her property back. With the help of her legal advisor she was able to prove that the alleged will was a sham document and result of fraud and forgery and it was never executed by her deceased father Sh. Harpreet Singh and the court did not confer any title in favour of Devendera Singh. Apart from this the court fined rupees 50,000 to Devendera Singh for forgering.
