Neither the birth of a girl is her choice nor is her life decisions of her choice. In ancient times once a girl is born she was ruthlessly murdered. The situation now is not developed according to my opinion. Now she is raped, molested, or put into the hands of someone which she never knew before in the name of marriage where again due to dowry she faces domestic violence. This infers that the life of a girl is never easy now or back then. Being a girl is burden in itself. All sorts of restrictions, discrimination is faced by them ultimately. It would not be wrong to say that they get all senses not to utilise for themselves but for becoming slave of others silently. A girl is always an easy target behind any kind of crime and this is because of the male dominated society which India has. Women face this silently because of lack of alternative support system and most of them think that it’s their fault which is making them face all these things. I don’t want to make any kind of feminist statement. Every gender faces brutatility of this society but the easy target is female member of the society.

Every family thinks that if their daughter gets married to any NRI then their whole family can lead a well settled life. This lead the daughters get into the traps. This is basically faced by rural and middle class people because the urge for acquiring NRI grooms is more within them. So, in other words in order to catch a bigger fish, the bigger fish swallows them. Even the grooms marry local girls just for the sake of heavy amount of dowries. But these issues are not discussed much because it had become dormant under the myriad of issues faced by women. But this issue is not a newly evolving issue but a very previous issue which was not brought into limelight. Earlier people were not allowed to choose their own partners. Men were forced to marry someone from their community only which ultimately lead to hiding of their abroad wives.

Indians are shifting to abroad because of the economic stress. In foreign everyone is independent but there are certain Indian women who are not that accumulated to the culture. This again creates a drift between the husband and wife. Husband leaves the wife at India with some or the other excuse and never comes back.
The government at a prior basis must look into the problem by formulating certain suggestions such as marking someone’s marital status on the visa, providing free legal assistance and financial aid to women abandoned by the NRIs; get into agreements with foreign governments to charge the grooms for bigamy, and to restrain the grant of ex-parte divorce by foreign courts. Then the issue arises where the government is also confused what to do in the case of invalid marriages or the wife knowingly cohabitates with the husband to gain validity for their marriage.
There are even more heinous forms of violence faced by NRI wives but they keep quite just in the fear of desertion. They are not allowed to make friends or socialise, kept in hunger, raped brutally, forced to undergo abortions, no money is given for maintenance, kept in hunger, not allowed to make calls to their family and all etc. The National Commission of Women in India has actually identified the states where these cases are really prevalent: Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

Any relationship faces ups and downs but the unbearable toxicity should not be compromised. The earlier one recognises it and becomes mentally strong enough to handle the better. The best way to end a toxic marriage is by taking divorce. In this situation there are two ways available to end such a marriage is either by submitting the petition in any Indian family court or in any foreign court. But if the divorce is taken in the foreign court without any representation then they can be divorced in foreign but still be considered as legally married couples. So, if someone wants to get out of the chaos completely choose wisely and take some legal advice for the same. Therefore, the fight for the legal right is endless until and unless there are some strong laws for the same.
